Lubomír Beneš (7.11.1935 – 12.9.1995)





The most important work of Mr. Lubomír Beneš is a puppet animated series “Pat and Mat” („ …and that’s it!“). This developed from the film “The Tinkers”, with cooperation of other important cartoonists.

Lubomír Beneš grew up on an outskirt of Prague, in Prague 9 – Hloubětín. Since he was very good at art, his parents paid him private art lessons. Here he studied drawing, painting and script.



 





On the basis of a competition he was accepted to the studio of animated film “Bratři v triku” after his military service. Here he got step by step acquainted to all the techniques of animated film.

In 1967 the joined Mr. Jiří Trnka and one year later he filmed here his first animated film – “The Homo”.

Beneš’s first puppet film “I back your pardon“ dates to 1974. Since then, he filmed in the “Krátký film Praha” studios tens of puppet, animated and even special animated films using cut-out phases.
In 1990 Mr. Beneš founded with other authors an author studio, where he created until his death.
